Union Minister Rajnath Singh Approves Miniratna Category-I Status for Yantra IndiaOn February 2, 2026, Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Ministry of Defence (MoD), approved Miniratna Category-I status for Yantra India Limited (YIL), a Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSU).
- With Miniratna Category‑I status, YIL’s board can approve capital expenditure up to Rs.500 crore on projects and equipment without prior government approval, boosting operational and financial autonomy.
About Yantra India Limited:
Formation : YIL was established on 1 October 2021 after the corporatisation of the former Ordnance Factory Board(OFB) into seven new DPSUs. It is a Schedule ‘A’ DPSU under the Department of Defence Production(DDP) under the MoD.
Products: The main products of YIL include carbon fibre composites, ammunition assemblies, armoured vehicle parts, artillery guns, Main Battle Tanks (MBTs), glass composites, aluminium alloys, etc.
YIL’s Performance: The sales of YIL grew from Rs.956.32 crores in Second Half (H2) of Financial Year 2021-22 (FY 22) to Rs.3,108.79 crores in FY 25.
