In February 2026, Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL), under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) to enhance cybersecurity and data protection in National Highway(NH) operations.
- The MoU was signed by A.R. Chitranshi, Chief Operating Officer(COO) of IHMCL, and Dr. S.O. Junare, Campus Director of NFSU, Gandhinagar(Gujarat), in the presence of Santosh Kumar Yadav, Chairman of NHAI and Vishal Chauhan, Chairman and Managing Director(CMD) of IHMCL.
Key Highlights of MoU:
Technical Support: Under the MoU, the NFSU will provide technical guidance to the IHMCL for setting up advanced laboratories, including Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) analysis, multimedia analysis, audio-video analysis, and digital and cyber forensics laboratories.
Key Areas of Collaboration: The MoU will concentrate on strengthening joint efforts in advanced highway technologies, including Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF), Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), Traffic Management Systems (TMS), and Weigh-in-Motion (WIM).
Focus: The MoU also targets secure camera-based imaging, encrypted data storage, cybersecurity audits, evidence integrity, forensic reliability, enhanced imaging accuracy, and the setup of Security Operations Centres (SOC) and forensic validation laboratories.
