Bilateral Meeting: On February 3, 2026, he held a bilateral meeting with Marco Rubio, Secretary of USA at the United States(US) State Department in Washington D.C. He also met Scott Bessent, Treasury Secretary, USA, and discussed strengthening economic partnership and strategic cooperation.
Critical Mineral Ministerial Meeting 2026: On February 4, 2026, Union Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar attended the einaugural Critical Minerals Ministerial , a multilateral forum convened by USA Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in Washington D.C.

• uring the meeting, Union Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar highlighted the risks posed by excessive concentration of critical mineral production and processing.

FORGE Initiative: He announced India’s support for the Forum on Resource, Geostrategic Engagement (FORGE), a newly launched global initiative aimed at strengthening cooperation on critical minerals supply chains.

• FORGE will be chaired by the Republic of Korea until June 2026.

Project Vault: President of the USA Donald John (J). Trump launched ‘Project Vault’, a new strategic minerals reserve initiative, with an aim to reduce the USA’s reliance on foreign countries.
The project has total funding of about USD 12 billion, including USD 10 billion through a long-term loan from the US Export-Import Bank (EXIM) and around USD 2 billion from private sector investments.
