- The agreement was signed in the presence of Union Minister Amit Shah, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Ministry of Cooperation and Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister (CM) of Nagaland, in New Delhi, Delhi.
Key Details of FNTA:
Districts Covered: As per the agreement, the proposed FNTA will be created for 6 districts of Nagaland namely, Tuensang, Mon, Kiphire, Longleng, Noklak, and Shamtor.
Devolution of Powers to FNTA: Under this newly signed agreement, powers related to 46 subjects of the state will be transferred to the FNTA.
Financial Support : Union Home Minister Amit Shah informed that the MHA will provide the initial expenditure for the establishment of FNTA.
Other Key Features: The agreement facilitates, inter-alia, for mini-secretariat for FNTA chaired by Additional Chief Secretary/Principal Secretary.
- It will also receive a dedicated outlay for the Eastern Nagaland region proportional to population and area.
- However, this newly signed agreement does not alter/change in manner whatsoever, the provisions of Article 371 (A) of the Constitution of India.
