In February 2026, Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer and India’s Mahindra Group have announced plans to collaborate on establishing a state-of-the-art Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility in India for the C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft.
- This facility is subject to the selection of the C-390 aircraft by the Indian Air Force (IAF) under its Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) procurement programme.
Key Details:
Background: A Strategic Cooperation Agreement (SCA) signed in October 2025 aims to produce the C-390 Millennium in India and strengthen the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Scope: The proposed MRO capability is envisaged to provide end-to-end support, covering base and heavy maintenance, structural inspection and testing, component repair and overhaul, avionics support, as well as training services.
Support: The proposed facility will provide comprehensive in-country maintenance and sustainment support for the C-390 fleet to ensure high operational readiness and improved aircraft availability.
Aircraft : The C-390 Millennium is a multi-mission military transport aircraft with a payload capacity of up to 26 tons, offering higher speed, greater operational range, and enhanced performance compared to other medium-sized transport aircraft.
