Overview of PM Narendra Modi’s Visit to Meerut, UP on February 22, 2026On 22 February 2026, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi visited Meerut, Uttar Pradesh (UP), where he flagged off the Meerut Metro and the 82 kilometre (km) Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor and developmental projects worth approximately Rs 12,930 crore to the Nation.

Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor: PM Narendra Modi dedicated the 82 kilometre (km) Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor, India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS).

  • The RRTS is designed for 180 kilometres per hour (kmph) with an operational speed of 160 kmph, connecting Delhi with Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Modinagar, and Meerut.
  • Four Namo Bharat stations were commissioned as part of the inauguration with Sarai Kale Khan serves as the originating station of the corridor.

Meerut Metro:The 21 km Meerut Metro corridor operates between Meerut South and Modipuram across 12 stations. Meerut Metro was India’s fastest metro system, with a maximum operational speed of around 120 kmph.
It operates on shared infrastructure with Namo Bharat, creating India’s first integrated intercity and intra-city rapid transit model.
