Origin: The Indian Medical Service (IMS), established in 1612 under the British East India Company.

Renaming: After independence, the Indian Army Medical Corps (IAMC) was renamed as the Army Medical Corps (AMC) on 26 January 1950.
2026 Event: As part of the 2026 nationwide celebrations, a walkathon themed “One Health, One Force, 262 Years Strong” was held on 29 March 2026 at Cariappa Parade Ground, New Delhi, Delhi.
