The inaugural Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 (KITG 2026) concluded in Chhattisgarh, held across Raipur, Jagdalpur, and Surguja from 25 March to 3 April 2026, with Karnataka emerging as the overall champion by winning 38 medals, including 23 gold, 8 silver, and 7 bronze.
- Odisha secured second position with a total of 57 medals (21 gold, 15 silver, and 21 bronze), while Jharkhand finished third with a total of 35 medals (16 gold, 8 silver, and 11 bronze).
About Khelo India Tribal Games 2026:
Launch: The inaugural event was launched by Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, MoYAS, in Raipur on March 25, 2026.
Organisers: The event is jointly organised by the MoYAS, Sports Authority of India (SAI), Indian Olympic Association (IOA), National Sports Federations (NSFs), and the Chhattisgarh State Organising Committee.
Sports: Seven medal sports – Archery, Athletics, Football, Hockey, Swimming, Weightlifting, and Wrestling, were featured along with demonstration sports like Mallakhamb and Kabaddi.
Medals: A total of 338 medals are contested across seven sports disciplines, including 106 gold, 106 silver, and 126 bronze medals, with athletics offering the highest share, followed by swimming, wrestling, and weightlifting.
