Survey of India Signs 5-Year MoU with Kerala Digital University for Geospatial Research
In March 2026, the Survey of India (SoI), under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology(MoS&T), signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kerala Digital University (KDU), Kerala, to collaborate on geospatial research and digital innovation.
Key Details of MoU:
Objective: The partnership aims to advance excellence in geospatial data collection, processing and analysis by leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as Geoinformatics, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).
Key Areas of Collaboration: Under the MoU, both institutions will collaborate on Research and Development (R&D) in mapping and spatial data sciences, conduct training programmes and workshops for students and professionals, facilitate internships and knowledge exchange, and undertake joint projects aligned with national geospatial priorities.
Significance: The partnership boosts academia–industry collaboration to strengthen geospatial capabilities, promote innovation, support planning, and build expertise in advanced spatial technologies.
