On 13 January 2026, the Government of Tamil Nadu (TN) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sarvam AI to establish India’s first full-stack Sovereign Artificial Intelligence (AI) Park in Chennai, TN.

About India’s First Sovereign AI Park:
Investment: The project will receive an initial investment of around Rs.10,000 crore and is projected to generate over 1,000 high‑skilled deep‑tech jobs.
AI District: The Sovereign AI Park will be developed as a dedicated AI district, integrating high-performance AI computing infrastructure, secure data frameworks, advanced research and model training labs, and innovation clusters.
Institute for AI in Governance: The park will host a dedicated Institute for AI in Governance to develop AI for public-sector use, ensuring data security, ethics, and accountability.
Applications: The park will support large-scale AI projects in education, healthcare, agriculture, and citizen services, while promoting Tamil-first AI models reflecting local language and culture.
