About Santhali Language:
Dignitaries Present: Vice President(VP) C. P. Radhakrishnan and Minister of State(MoS) (Independent Charge, IC) Arjun Ram Meghwal, MoL&J were among the dignitaries present at the event.
Official Language: The Santhali language was included in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution as one of the official languages through the 92nd Constitutional Amendment Act, 2003.
- At present, 22 Indian languages are recognised as official languages of India, listed under the 8th Schedule of the Constitution.
Spoken Across: The Santhali Language, one of the most ancient living languages in India, is spoken widely by a large tribal community across Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal (WB), and Bihar.
About the Script: This launch coincides with Ol Chiki script 100th year.
