In April 2026, the South Asian Football Federation(SAFF), announced that India is set to host the SAFF Women’s Championship 2026, the premier regional tournament, scheduled to take place from May 24 to June 7, 2026 at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru (Fatorda) Stadium in Margao, Goa.

- This marks India’s first time hosting the SAFF Women’s Championship since 2016 in Siliguri, while Goa previously hosted a SAFF event during the men’s championship in 1999.
About SAFF Women’s Championship 2026:
Background: The tournament, held approximately every two years since its inaugural edition in 2010, was last conducted in 2024 in Nepal, where the hosts lost the final 2–1 to Bangladesh.
Format: Six teams will compete in the tournament, with Group A comprising Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan, and Group B featuring India, Bangladesh, and Maldives.
