Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Inaugurates Ammunition Facility in Nagpur, Maharashtra
In January 2026, Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Ministry of Defence (MoD), inaugurated a Medium Calibre Ammunition Manufacturing Facility at the Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited(SDAL) in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

Key Details: 
Facility: The new fully automated facility will manufacture 30 millimeter (mm) ammunition, which is extensively used by the Indian Army (IA) and the Indian Navy (IN).
Pinaka Rocket Facility: During his visit, Union Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the Pinaka Rocket manufacturing facility at the Solar Group and flagged off the 1st tranche of Guided Pinaka rockets exported to Armenia.
Key Progress Made in India’s Defence Sector:
Domestic Defence Production: India’s domestic defence production has surged from Rs 46,425 crore (in 2014) to a record approximately Rs 1.51 lakh crore (2025-26), of which, more than Rs 33,000 was contributed by the private sector.
Defence Exports: India’s defence exports have risen sharply to Rs.24,000 crore from less than Rs.1,000 crore ten years ago.
