Justice Soumen Sen Sworn in as Chief Justice of Kerala High Court
On January 10, 2026, Justice Soumen Sen was sworn in as the 40th Chief Justice (CJ) of the Kerala High Court(HC). The oath of office was administered by Governor of Kerala Rajendra Arlekar, in presence of Chief Minister(CM) Pinarayi Vijayan, Speaker AN Shamsheer, and other dignitaries at Raj Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Profile: He worked across various sectors, including civil, constitutional, banking, and arbitration cases and represented major bodies such as Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI).
Career: He practised for about 20 years at the Calcutta HC, Kolkata (West Bengal, WB) on original and appellate sides. In 2011, he was appointed as the Judge of the Calcutta HC, where he also served as Acting CJ in September 2025.
