India’s AYUSH System Recognised in Bilateral Agreements with Oman, New Zealand
In January 2026, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry (MoC&I) announced India’s traditional medical system Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy(AYUSH), formally recognised in bilateral agreements, including India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

  • The announcement was made during the AYUSH Export Promotion Council (AYUSHEXCIL)’s 4th establishment anniversary celebrations held in New Delhi, Delhi.

Anchoring Agency: The AYUSHEXCIL has been tasked with implementing the ‘Ayush Quality Mark programme’, launched by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi at the 2nd WHO Summit on Traditional Medicine in New Delhi.
Growth in Exports : The exports of AYUSH and herbal products increased from USD 649.2 million in 2023-24 to USD 688.89 million in 2024-25, registering a growth of 6.11%.
About AYUSHEXCIL: On January 4, 2022, AYUSHEXCIL was registered as a Section 8 company with the Registrar of Companies (Delhi).

  • It was formally launched in April 2022 by PM Narendra Modi during the Global AYUSH Investment and Innovation Summit held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
