On 11 December 2025, the Ministry of Education (MoE) organised the ‘Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav 2025’, at National Bal Bhawan in New Delhi, to mark the birth anniversary of renowned Tamil poet Mahakavi Subramania Bharati.

  • The event, held under the theme “Many Languages, One Emotion,” featured the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) and celebrated the variety and value of India’s tribal languages.

About Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav 2025:
Tribal Language Showcase: The MoTA set up a stall featuring publications from the Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs) of Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gujarat.

  • The display included dictionaries, primers, storybooks, and research documents showcasing the unique languages and oral traditions of tribal communities.

Adi Vaani AI Translator: The event’s highlight was the live demonstration of Adi Vaani, India’s first AI-powered tribal language translator, developed by Indian Institute of Technology(IIT)-Delhi(New Delhi), under MoTA to enable real-time text and speech translation between Hindi/English and tribal languages.

  • In its initial phase, the app supports some of the tribal languages such as: Santali and Kui (Odisha), Bhili (Madhya Pradesh, MP), Mundari (Jharkhand), Gondi (Chhattisgarh), and Garo (Meghalaya).
