The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has upgraded the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) from Category B to Category A, the highest doping risk bracket, under World Athletics' anti-doping rules. India ranked among the top two nations for anti-doping rule violations in athletics from 2022 to 2025, recording 71 violations in 2024 alone to top the list.
