Tennis player Vaishnavi Adkar, who became the first Indian since Sania Mirza to reach a singles final at an ITF W100 or higher tournament, hails from Pune. The 21-year-old, who is ranked 690 in the world, began playing tennis at the age of seven. Adkar, who was India's number one Under-14 player, clinched the Fenesta Women's Nationals in 2025.
