CMEC Signs MoU with Delhi University to Boost Maritime Education
In April 2026, the Centre for Maritime Economy and Connectivity (CMEC), at the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), and   the University of Delhi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen maritime education and research.

  • The agreement was signed in the presence of Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways(MoPSW), at the Delhi School of Economics in New Delhi, Delhi.

Key Details of MoU:
Focus: The partnership will emphasize developing academic frameworks, joint research initiatives, training programmes, and knowledge-sharing efforts to bridge academia, policy, and industry.
Strategic Impact: The partnership will create new opportunities for students and researchers in areas like maritime logistics, green shipping, and supply chain management, supporting India’s goal of becoming a global maritime leader.
Additional MoU: Another MoU was also signed between the RIS and the Delhi School of Economics to promote joint programmes in public policy research and training.
Alignment: The initiative aligns with key government programmes such as Sagarmala and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.
