Gujarat Becomes India’s Largest Contributor to Renewable Energy CapacityAs of December 31, 2025, Gujarat emerged as the largest contributor to India’s Renewable Energy(RE) capacity, with cumulative installations of 42.583 Gigawatt (GW), accounting for 16.50% of the country’s total RE capacity.About RE Leadership:Overall Rank: It ranks first in total installed RE capacity (42.583 Gigawatt(GW)), first in wind power capacity (14,820.94 Megawatt(MW)), second in solar power capacity (25,529.40 MW), and first in rooftop solar installations.Rooftop Scale: It crossed 11 lakh rooftop solar installations with a cumulative capacity of 6,412.80 MW.Solar Pumps: Gujarat installed 12,700 standalone off-grid solar water pumps under Component B of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Surakshaevam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme, generating 89.54 MW.Wind Policy: Gujarat pioneered wind energy development in India by launching the country’s first Wind Power Policy and has an installed wind capacity of 14,820.94 MW.National Goals: Gujarat is contributing significantly to achieving India’s net-zero emissions target by 2070 and the goal of sourcing 50% of electricity from RE by 2030.

While addressing the event, he highlighted that India has emerged as the world’s 3rd-largest domestic aviation market.Wings India 2026 Awards:  These awards were formally presented by the Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and MoCA Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha.Delhi International Airport Limited was awarded with the Best Airport of the Year.Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) was named the Best Contributor to Atmanirbhar Bharat).Uttarakhand, Telangana, and Gujarat were awarded with the ‘Best State for Promotion of Aviation Ecosystem’ award at the event, while Andhra Pradesh (AP) won the Best State with a Dedicated Outlook for the aviation sector.Key Announcements by Air India: Air India placed an order for additional 30 fuel-efficient Boeing narrowbody aircrafts, comprising 20 Boeing 737-8 and 10 Boeing 737-10 aircraft, bringing its total orders with Boeing to 250 planes.In addition to that, Air India has revamped its existing partnership with Airbus, converting 15 A321neo orders into the more advanced A321XLR (Extra Long Range)variant.Key MoUs Signed by HAL: The Indian Public Sector aerospace manufacturer, HAL signed an agreement with Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC)for cooperation in the production of Superjet 100 (SJ-100), a twin-engine regional commercial aircraft designed to carry a maximum 100 passengers,  in India.It also secured a contract worth over Rs 1,800 crore from domestic entity Pawan Hans Limited, for the supply of 10 Dhruv New Generation (NG) helicopters, including associated spares, and accessories.

IOCL Signs LoI with Akasa Air to Jointly Explore SAF SupplyIn January 2026, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Akasa Air to jointly explore the future supply of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) during the Wings India 2026 airshow in Hyderabad, Telangana.Key Details of LoI:Framework : The LoI establishes a framework for collaboration to assess how IOCL might supply SAF to Akasa Air in the future.Role of Entities: IOCL and Akasa Air will evaluate potential SAF supply volumes, delivery locations, timelines, and approved sustainable feedstocks and production pathways that meet global standards.SAF: It is a lower-carbon alternative to conventional jet fuel that can significantly reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from aviation.About IOCL: IOCL, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE), was established in 2019 in New Delhi, Delhi, under the MoPNG. India Partners with World Bank on USD 8-10 Billion-a-year Plan to Boost Jobs and GrowthIn January 2026, the Government of India (GoI) and the World Bank Group (WBG) announced a new Country Partnership Framework (CPF), aimed at accelerating job creation across both urban and rural areas of the country with USD 8-10 billion in annual financing over the next 5 years.This newly announced plan took effect  from the start of January 2026, fully aligns with India’s “Viksit Bharat” vision which aims to make the country a developed nation by 2047.Key Details:Key Pillars: The WBG’s global jobs strategy is structured around 3 main pillars i.e. investing in critical infrastructure, both physical and human; strengthening a business-friendly environment via predictable laws, rules and regulations; and using risk-management tools to help private investment scale.
